CHAPTER 8 - CONNOR

CONNOR WOULD BE the first to admit that kissing Gavin was a bad idea, but when he had woken up to Gavin looking at him like that, like Connor had hung the moon and stars…

Connor couldn’t resist.

The few moments that Gavin didn’t kiss back nearly broke Connor’s heart in two. He thought that he had completely ruined their newfound friendship.

Luckily he hadn’t, but that had still been a heart-stopping experience.

Connor really didn’t have anyone in D.C. anymore, not that he could consider a close friend. He couldn’t lose Gavin too.

This was all happening too fast, Connor knew that, but he had the chance at happiness and he couldn’t let it go.

Gavin made him happy, he felt safe and cared for around the alpha, and they were good together. He made Connor feel like his heart and dreams for a future hadn’t been broken in two.

It could all end badly but Connor had to take the chance.

So far, everything had been easy. Too easy in fact.

After the kiss, it was like their relationship barely changed other than the fact that Connor now stayed the night at Gavin’s house more often than not, and that they occasionally made out on the couch. Connor also stopped by Sweet Beginnings to pick up Gavin for lunch on occasion. The free sweets he got out of it were more than worth him walking out of his way rather than Gavin coming to pick him up.

It was good and easy, but Connor wanted more.

He hadn’t been this horny in years, yet Gavin was ever the gentleman and didn’t seem to want to push Connor.

It was frustrating, Connor really didn’t want to be the one to take charge, but something had to give.

Honestly, all of their problems could be solved with a bit more communication, but Connor was hesitant to push things.

It wasn’t just a sex thing, Connor did value their friendship, but he wasn’t sure what Gavin wanted.

Connor wasn’t exactly a catch at the moment. He was still, to some extent, hung up on his ex, and for heaven’s sake he was pregnant. He still couldn’t understand why Gavin would want him at all, but somehow Gavin did.

He didn’t want to push and find out that Gavin was just looking for something casual, even if it didn’t look that way from Connor’s point of view. Connor was almost content to just leave everything in limbo and just let the cards fall how they may.

At least that would lessen the chance for outright rejection.

Still, Connor knew that he would have to talk to Gavin eventually. They couldn’t keep going on in this ‘are they friends, or something more’ limbo once the baby was born.

Connor needed to man up and talk to Gavin about the status of their relationship. Well, that and get laid.

One of those things was more important, but the other should, in theory, be far, far, easier.

Connor usually got what he wanted.
